What Do Authors Do?: An Inside Look at the Writing Process

Preschool-8th Grade
Being an author isn't all glitz and glamour-it's a mixture of hard work and big fun! In this presentation, Ms. Allen reveals what the life of an author is really like. She reads This Little Piggy's Book of Manners and other original stories and poems, and she explains the process of turning an idea into a published book.


"Hey, You! Mind Your Manners!" : A Manners Presentation

Preschool-6th Grade
Manners matter! Through games, songs and chants, Ms. Allen emphasizes the importance of good manners and shares the process of writing her manners book. She reads This Little Piggy's Book of Manners and other stories and poems, helping students to remember to use their p's and q's.


Writing for Children: Essentials 1-10: A Career Day Presentation

6th Grade-Adult
Are your students curious about a career in writing? In this session, Ms. Allen reads age-appropriate stories and poems, and she discusses ten important steps to take toward being a professional writer-steps that can be taken now.


In each lively, interactive presentation, Ms. Allen uses costumes, props, songs, and visual aides. For school assemblies, she prefers audiences of 200 or fewer, of two to three adjacent grades each.
